Try to come to the appointment in a relaxed state of mind so as to help your body accept the treatment to its fullest.
Eat and drink a little something within a couple of hours before your treatment. It’s best not to have acupuncture on an empty stomach.
Plan your activities so that after the treatment you can get some rest, or at least not have to be working at top performance.
Wear loose clothing such as shorts, baggy pants and tank tops. Loose fitting comfortable clothing allows you greater comfort during the treatment and easier access to acupuncture points.
Avoid vigorous activity or stressful situations two hours before an acupuncture treatment.
Do not eat an unusually large meal immediately before your treatment.
Refrain from using drugs or alcohol for at least several hours before a treatment.
Do not brush or scrape your tongue when you brush your teeth before acupuncture.
Don't eat or drink anything that can discolor your tongue (coffee, mints, soft drinks, etc). I need to see your normal tongue color and coating.
In the hours after a treatment, your body is still going through a physiological rebalancing process. To maximize the treatment effect, avoid vigorous exercise, hot tubs, and drugs or alcohol for several hours.
